I prefer the old, because of its familarity. I know what its about, I know what to expect.
With the new, there's that uncertainty with what could happen. So I prefer the old more.
But when it comes to techology and stuff. I prefer the new. Nothing wrong with getting a new camera, phone or mp3 player.
So for me its a tie and depends on the cirumstances.

Old or new what?
For instance, wine, cheese or good friends could go either way depending on your mood, whereas, other things like shoes, toothbrushes, gum and most food items are better new. Antiques, grandparents, and money are all good candidates for cool "old" things... :)
