If the meaning of life is to achive happines , then i think it's hopeless cuz that is impossible..You can't be always happy..But what if meaning was to love and be loved, then you could be really happy..I mean of course you will be sad sometimes but your life would be like paradise...[stupid idea, huh?]

I think you're idea is a temporary meaning to life, go for it. 80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Happiness can be achieved. Happiness is not the absence of sadness, but rather a quality of thought that can prevail despite sadness and loss. But it is far more difficult than it sounds, which is why not many people are truly happy.

No, your idea may sound naive, but it is not. Other than the truly basic neccessities like food, water, air and such, all you really need is love. Money is only a means to an end, and too often people die with lots of unspent money anyway. True love is a meeting of minds and souls. Of discovery and learning, compassion and give and take. All the really important things in life. On my death bed I would like to say that I know I have lived because I have loved, been loved and learned.

Some may say you are childish, but consider that for most children (in normal settings), their life is one happy ride. Things that trouble them are forgotten the next hour and they are constantly filled witht he joy of discovery.... which they sadly lose as they become 'adults'

The meaning of living predominantly depends on your perspective of what you view as the priorities in your life. I shall try to present my mind's ether to you.

The main meaning of life is to revealing to your soul , your conscience, the path to The Almighty through the two vehicles of your consciousness - the mind and the soul. To illustrate it better, it is to unveil yourself from this illusion of a world. Every thing that you see is an illusion. A faint recognition of the real ether on which we now see, feel and hear.

There are many ways of achieving the path to the Almighty. Through your body, you can do the divine arts - Yoga or what ever is taught in your locality. Through your mind you can meditate, think only of The One Above - God.If you are an atheist, then add an "o" to God. It will turn into Good.

Many ways exist yet not known to mind kind. Part of my quest is to seek some of them. You should too.

The journey will be difficult - full of hardships and pains, there will seem to be no happiness at all, but if you remember a saying - "As you sow, so you reap.". Only if you struggle shall you achieve what you deeply desire. Life is a two-way street - one consisting of easy methods pf achieving only transient pleasure and the other full of hardships and pain but the end result is permanent pleasure, content, peace and happiness.

It is not easy to force your self on to the difficult path. You must have a strong desire to go and achieve your goal. If not the eternal truth will never be realized by your soul thus you will be caught in the cycle of birth and death. To at least escape this must you realize the Good or God.

Thus it can be said that you live to die and die to live. Unless you achieve the worldly goal of realizing the Good or achieving God

Hope I have cleared your doubt.

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us.

The life can not be measured and it is upto the creator to allow it-

Not stupid at all. Love is the meaning. But first we must find our true inner person before we can receive love to share, and so this is the mission. Love is pure, and so we each have a lot to do to prepare for love.

the meaning of life.... will be different to each person u ask.
each of us will have our own view of the meaning of our life. it's not up to someone else's view, i decided [or gain insight] what will be the meaning of my life.
because u OWN ur life! not me, not ur parents, not anyone!

i'll share my personal view on MY meaning of life:
it's about what u've done to others. i think if i've done good to others, i've done something meaningful to my life. if good things happen to me, i consider that as a bonus [everyone like bonus anyway].
