The republicans lost the election mainly because of the war. Will the democrats rubber stamp more troops and another hundred billion dollars?

No. The dems would not just go along. The Dems would speak out harshly. But they also might be somewhat divided in their response. But in the end it might not matter. President Bush would have the constitutional power to order an increase in troops in Iraq. I think that if this does happen, the dems would be very critical and very vocal. There would be much debate. Many would call for a complete with-drawl, or perhaps some other idea. Problem is: everyone knows that it would be bad for Iraq if there was a phased with drawl that ended with all troops gone within, say, six months. We started a fire in their house. Shouldn't we stay and help put it out? But if we stay, we just see more and more troops come home in caskets for no good reason. Americans would have no trouble seeing many soldiers die for a just and necessary war. But this is not that situation at all. Therefore, I think we will see the Dem's support some other idea, like perhaps the partitioning of Iraq.

A 'troop surge' will probably not accomplish much. Unless we're talking about a surge 500,000 troops.

There will be some rhetoric from the Dem's opposing additional troops, but in the final analysis Bush will have his way and the Dem's will continued their feigned protests. It is unfortunate, but the objectives of both parties is the same, and unfortunately, it is not the best interest of America.

Americans are slow to accept the truth of Iraq. We do not fight against weapons of mass destruction just as we do not fight for democracy. We fight for oil at the urging of those who benefit from controlling this resource. The American popular majority clearly oppose this war, but our elitist leaders continue to answer to a different master. If the Dem's truly oppose the additional troops and the war, they have the ability to cease funding of the war. They should authorize sufficient funds to bring the troops safely home and to send George, the congress and their elitist masters to Iraq to finish what they started!

The sad things is that whatever George Bush decides to do, the Democrats will criticize him for it. They are in the business of getting a Democratic President in 2008 and anything that the current Republican President wants to do will be critisized by the Democrats. In the end they have to oblige his request for more troops if that is what he decides to do. They cannot codemn our troops to failure in this war.

They most likely will. Sadly, they have yet to develop a strategy of their own. Thus far, I haven't seen any leadership in any direction from the Democrats. I expect McCain will become our next president, because he's been the only one with courage enough to make a real suggestion. I'm not sure I agree with his idea, but at least he has one. The Democrats are content to sit back and criticize the ideas of others, and then vote for them in the end.

If George Bush were to say that the sky is blue, Hillary Clinton would be on Good Morning America the next day to talk about studies proving that the sky is red The Democrats in congress would introduce a law stating that the sky is offended by being called blue, and now wishes to be called red. The press would call Mr.Bush an idiot for not noticing the sky is actually red. And my next door neighbor would remark about the lovely red sky the next time he saw me. OR they would agree to Mr. Bush's request, wait 24 hours and then accuse Mr. Bush of not telling them enough "nuanced" information for them to make the proper "nuanced" decision.

The war will not be won in any fashon. Both sides are looking for a way to blame the other for a failure when it comes. Dems will give Bush the troops so they can again blame him if things don't improve.

Yes, they will go along.

They are not going to pull the troops out of Iraq or end the war, they were just pandering to the voters.

The way I see it they have little choice, we are committed to a lost cause. They will be damned if they do and damned if they don't and will run into more problems if they don't. I am sure that there will be some honest debate before they vote on it, it won't be the same as the Repuglicans when they were in charge. No debate, just do it because the commander in thief wants it.

Yes.Now I know you have bought into the talking points of your party but they are lies. The ones in office know that the war was justified and that to pull out now would mean increased attempts at attacks on U.S. cities. The enemy is real and they are not going to stop unless we stop them.
