I don't think life is short. I think time is wasted.

How is life short? Other than eternity, it's the longest thing we'll ever experience; and no one has experienced eternity, so cant really explain it. Just think about having a "long" day, and how much one does in just 24 hours, therefore, no matter what age you die, there's still been a lot accomplished, and one couldnt do that much in a "short" time.

The less variety you have in your daily routine, the shorter life seems. This is often true for retired people, they will say something like "the days seem so long, yet the years fly by". That's because they don't have much to do so the afternoon seems to last forever, yet when they compare the past year to the one before that, they don't notice any real differences.

There is a measure of life in terms of heartbeats. There is a rough correlation between heartbeats and the time an animal gets to live. However mankind has a much longer life when compared to other animals so the question should be "why is life so long"?

It's not really life which is short, more of the time we have left to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. I think most people take it ALL for granted, as they waste time. Time may tick by, but what you really don't know is when it's gonna stop - FOR YOU. People always look at life as "There will always be a tomorrow", but really, Tomorrow may not be.

hmmm !, i wonder why you have phrased your question in the format you did ?, could it be that you have a fear of death ?, and that your fear of death or your own mortality has caused you to ponder your own mortality, or could it be that you have witnessed or experienced for the first time, the death of someone close to you of your own age range, and it has scared ?, in my viewpoint, as a 49 year old male , having put 100 years of life into those 49 years, would have to ask why life is so long !, when will it end ?, i had never even concidered living past 30, i had always thought i would be dead long before then !, and never would have believed that i would have reached this point of life, and i have never feard death, in fact when it finaly comes, i shall embrace it, but i shall not go easily , and my death must have a purpouse and / or in the protection of others !, i don't know if this will help to answer your question or not , but it may give you something to consider !

Wrong question!
You should ask: Why don't I get more out of life? and then you can answer the question yourself.
Most things in life can be reached for those who make the effort. If you do, life will be satisfactory and just long enough.

If you are with someone you love, time goes by too quickly.
If you are with someone you don't like, time can drag VERY slowly.
Same thing with life. There are people who are only thirty years old who are tired of living - and people in their 80's and 90's who continue to celebrate their existence and enrich the world around them.
Life is what it is. What we make of it? That's something else entirely.

But life on the other hand is very lengthy for the cowards.

Life is not short, it is your perception how do you see you life. If you are too busy life appears too short, and if you are sitting idle it will not be short.
