Is it better or the same as the Honda Jazz or Toyota Vios automatic tranbsmission? Or will I be better off with a Toyota Corolla 1.6 manual transmission? What about in terms of resale value?

The Toyota Corolla 1.6 manual hands down. That car is bullet proof....I've seen 2 with over a million KM's, and several over 500K. Excellant resale value, always worth it. The Suzuki Swift is Ok, but you need to have a Manual transmission, the automatics are junk. They are Amazing on gas, i had a 3cyl firefly (almost the same car) that did 60 miles to the gallon. Are the jazz and vios hybrid cars? If so, hybrid cars are currently far too exspensive to be worth the money you save on gas. My friend bought a new honda and said that for the extra money it would have cost to get the hybrid version, he could buy enough gas to travel 70,000 kilometers with this car, plus, hybrids are built much lighter, and are not as strong in crashes.

the swift the Honda civic and the Mazda 3 would be the ones to go for (maybe not the brand new civic the looks are abit funny) but all 3 of these cars are very good reliable cars go with Honda for resale value. but overall the whole used car market is getting cheaper over floods of new cars being bought. my advise is to buy a 2-3 year old car, practically new. much cheaper because the bulk of the money lost on a car is in the first 3 years. so you get a great condition car. engine is already run in, for a great price

Suzukis are of decent quality. Resale is HORRIBLE, so if you buy one, make sure you're going to keep it until the wheels fall off.

Unless you have a Honda or Toyota, resale on pretty much everything now is horrible, unless you have some niche (a specialized market) car like a Mini, Humvee, Porsche, Saturn Sky etc.

Go with the Honda or Toyota.
The Suzuki's are not safe. They may look good but they also have a poor re-sale value.
I used to work at a Suzuki dealer and had an accident with one. Now I have a permanent disability and unable to work. Thanks to the Suzuki Aerio I was driving. The swift is much worse.
