I have heard this question before and i like it. but whenever you come across something like this, a logical statement that contradicts itself, it is because there is an error in the question and not in the answer.

What you are confusing is that god is a spirit, and a rock is a physical thing. you do not mix them.

just like if someone were to say: I always lie
"`I always lie' is a paradox because if it is true it must be false"
and of course the problem in this statement is that whoever said that, does not always lie, and so one of the assumptions leading to this paradox is incorrect.

You're not gonna convert any faith-heads that way! Don't you know they're beyond hope of rescuing with logic and rational thought?

I've heard people speaking in the religion and spirituality room who freely claim God can do things which are logically impossible - like change a circle in to a square (whatever that can actually mean).

Besides Omnipotence is incompatible with Omniscience - if you know everything you know what you'll do - so you can't do anything you want - you have to do what you know you're going to do!

If God wants to make something God can't pick up, how would we know whether God couldn't pick it up or just didn't want to? We wouldn't, poor mortal us. Understanding the mind of a transdimensional being is beyon our one-dimensional minds.

In the words of Joe Nichols.....

Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen
Happen just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I’ve learned to never underestimate the impossible

Omnipotent is the theological word for All Powerful God. According to the Bible, God created all things - Wow, the whole Universe!! If He can do that - it can be assumed that He can lift it. There is a promise that one day we can know Him like He knows us. We will probably have to wait till that day to get the answer to your question for certain. Isn't is wonderful that God is big enough to create and rule a universe and small enough to know and love us on an individual basis.

Yes. God can make something so heavy (big) that even He Himself can not move! Surprised? The answer is, YOU! YOU are the heavy (big) thing that God has created that even He cannot moved UNLESS YOU allow Him too. Your will. Your choice mechanism. Your Free Will. It truely is free and you truely are free. God cannot touch you and will not touch you OTHERWISE love, obedience, loyalty, faithfulness, etc has no virtue (value).

Therefore, surrender your heart, mind, will, body unto the Lord Jesus Christ today. The Bible says to 'harden not your hearts while it is called today' but to 'offer yourselves as living sacrifices unto God, holy and pleasing unto Him, he is only our reasonable service (in other words, it's not to much to ask).

This is one of those questions that will never have a answer. Its made to create doubt in certain area's of the unknown to make those who don't know the answer feel that no one else does either.

George Carlin asked that back in the seventies. Check him out.

Of course, he worships the Sun, and prays to Joe Pesci.

Well she does it all the time.

She just put too much thrash in the thrash bag, and after that, she can't lift it.

So during the hockey game, she bugs me about taking the trash out....
