I have worked in teams and don't care for them. Teams stifle innovation and those who don't perform can bring he entire team down. In some situations if there is a personality conflict then one member could be evaluated lower than they should without concern for performance. Working in a team environment is socialistic in nature and contrary to American ideals of independence and innovation. Not everyone functions at the same level or has the same talents. Most new ideas come from individuals, not teams or groups. Anytime I have seen a large group of teams being utilized in an organization, there is a lower level of productivity. This goes counter to what is usually touted by those wanting to use teams. That doesn't mean that teams cannot function, but if you want to see what can happen, just look at the government. Talk about a team environment! Teams are like government, they are bloated and non-productive. If you want to kill an organization, just start using a lot of teams on projects.
