What are you comparing your family to? Every family is unique in its own way. Lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed.

well, if they are like 99.9% of all families in the world, they probably are so dysfunctional..... functionality is only one aspect of surviving within a family and growing up okay.... do you feel loved? do you feel relatively safe? is there one family member who will listen to you and be there for you if you really really need them?

You can be a pathfinder for your own way, and that of your family and those who come after you.... find a mentor; do some reading of autobiographies about people who have struggled in their early life and achieved balance and success in their adulthood; reconnect with the God of your early childhood-- find that wonder and beauty and faith again; set goals; take babysteps every day towards achieving your goals. Never give up!

Have a Happy New Year!

I ask myself that question a lot. I don't know what normal is. I don't think there is such a thing as a "normal" family. Everybody has their little idiosyncrasies, that's just life.
