Unfortunately the kids would still do the drinking and smoking no matter what age limit was put on them, there is always some stupid adult thinking its funny to go buy cigs and booze for them, maybe they should haul them off to court and give them a huge fine for doing that, shops get done for it so why not the idiotic adults who buy booze and cigs for the underage, wish they could see how their life's are going to turn out in 10 to 20 years time because of the booze and cigs, still would they listen or care.

I hate laws that are designed to protect me from me!!! The question is "at what age do you become an adult?" That should be the drinking, smoking, voting, military, etc. age. Make laws designed to protect kids because kids can't protect themselves but leave me the hell alone, I can be an idiot if I want. Last time I checked America was supposed to be a free country where one could pursue happiness while not infringing on others rights to happiness.

It has. Once upon a time NY had an 18 law for drinking, now it's 21, like almost everywhere else in the US.

You are confusing the legal drinking age and the legal age to buy alcohol they are two different things. The legal age to buy alcohol is 18, the legal age to drink alcohol is 5, this is in England.

There are Federal rules for workers under sixteen that shop many employers from hiring workers under sixteen. as an occasion, if under sixteen you could not be working (on the clock) after 9PM. you could in basic terms artwork maximum of hours each and every week (20 i think). If the corporation is caught breaking those rules they face especially stiff fines, consequently many won't hire under sixteen workers. I doubt IHOP has a company coverage on it, extra that the guy save supervisor has to p.c. if he/she needs to take on the accountability of an under sixteen worker.

i think they should both be made to 21, i dont think it would stop the kids but it would make it harder for them to able to get hold of it! im 23, but i would have said this at any age!, i think a lot of under 18 will say its wrong, because it then excludes them out again!

Well i can see them raising smoking age to 21 but drinking age is already there... i dont think that they should or will raise the drinking age..... you are an "adult" at 18 but you are a legal adult at 21 hence you can buy hand guns and beer. and if you go to walmart you can buy guns and beer at the same time.
