it's not the colour of your hair that matters
it's what you make of it

I think it's because of two things.
One is the simple fact that brunettes with brown eyes are so common the whole world over. Those dominant genes will not be denied!
The other is the fact that there are stereotypes about women which, while completely false, have sunk into our psyches. Redheads are fiery and passionate! Blondes are wild party girls! Brunettes are...well...steady? studious? serious and severe? It's all a bunch of bunk, of course, but those stereotypes are so common that I think they are ingrained in our society and our minds.
Each woman, like each man, can only be taken on a case by case basis. Also, there is the simple fact that plainness, like beauty, resides entirely in the eye of the beholder. One person's "plain" woman is another person's "dream girl".

It totally depends on the person...it maybe also the cultures that sometimes assume that the more blonde the better....but the thing that matter the most is the inside...and to be honest,it foes not matter if you are blonde or brunette but people make such a big deal of it!! (i never thought they are plain and each person is special in his own way) ....:)

I am a brunette with sparkly blue eyes, and glossy brunette hair. I do not think that brunettes that have brown hair are neccesarly all plain, but many are. If you look in like a magazine with beautiful models, I bet at least 3 models in the magizine have brown hair and brown eyes. My favorite color eyes is blue but...

Im brunette and i can be plain sometimes.. I think it's people looking at opposites... and in regards to hair, the opposite of blonde is brunette and there's always been the saying "blondes have more fun".... It truly comes down to the individual though, regardless of hair colour.

I've heard this too... however, many asian girls have dark eyes and dark hair and we all know how incredibly exotic and beautiful the asian world looks to the West!
Maybe this is based on the eye/hair colour combo. i.e. a brunette with blue eyes- her eyes stand out more. A blonde with brown eyes or blue eyes- her eyes stand out more.
For the record, some of the prettiest girls I've known have had dark eyes/dark hair. Any guy/girl who can make an assumption like that needs to open their mind a little more- No one looks the same!

I've seen "plain" brunettes just as I've seen "plain" blondes. I've also seen a lot of striking brunettes and blondes. It all depends on the individual woman.

I don't think so at all. I am a natural honey blonde with emerald green eyes and I've ALWAYS wanted to be a brunette. I think brunette's look exotic.
Me, I need a tan package year round. I guess the grass is always greener.

No, I'm serious with this answer, OK?
Men are basically pervs. They like the idea of friggin a virgin and Angels are always seen as having blond hair. Therefore if a female has blond hair (doesn't matter if it's a dye job) his conquest of purity has been successful. Kinda twisted huh?
I have seen women that are beautiful with brunette hair only to dye it and literally 'ugly themselves up' to be a fantasy for a guy! It's a sad thing.

Just some more northern euro-centric silliness.... I've never heard such a thing stated.... if you want to see 'plain' you should see the vast majority of blonds early in the morning before they draw on their eyebrows.... (I'm just kidding)

I guess it's because we're so common. The majority of the world's people have brown or black hair- Asia, Africa, Meditteranean, Latin America...
