we were in bed asleep and then it was like the effing blitz!....why do people waste money on fireworks when its just another night of the year?....you cant even start a new year now without soddin commercialism!

There was no point going to bed round here till the fireworks were well and truly over, my dog is absolutely terrified of them so I was sat on the sofa with her till gone 4 am cuddling her and waiting for her to calm down, finally got to bed just after 4 am, don't want to sound like a party pooper but god I so wish they would just have these organised displays and not allow them to be sold to every Tom, Dick and Harry who thinks its great to set them off at all hours of the day and night, damn consumer commercialism drives me up the wall, thanks for the rant, happy new year to you and yours and all the very best.

Not me i slept through 2 hours of it. Here in Holland thats the norm as the whole country sets of fireworks, not the first time i have slumbered through this ,and drank the champers in the morning for breakfast, Nice to see tho if you can stay awake. Try coming here in the new year, think you will enjoy it in Dam Square. Unless you work shifts.

I watched the London ones on telly - that was enough! I bet you any money the fireworks will be continuing the rest of the week! People don't know when to stop. Its like bonfire night - that lasts a month!!! LOL x

we survive Lake Ontario so we walked back to the shore to take a seat and we've been given to observe a bunch of firework reflects at as quickly as from all around our area of the lake, which became especially neat. The little adult adult males slept the full time. in step with threat next 365 days, lol.

Yup! I had NO intention of seeing in the New Year - too old to keep awake but somebody else had other ideas. I thought those big bomb type fireworks had been banned.

Didnt mind the ones at midnight but I was getting really fed up when I was woken up at 4am and beyond by the really loud bangs still going off. Dont these people have any consideration for others ???? xx

I went to bed about 1am, and they were still going off. I hope they get banned soon as they are a huge cause of environmental pollution, and also kill a lot of small mammals, birds and most pets get very upset by the noise.
