One of the major magazines recently listed the top professions, and many of them were in the medical field (vet, optometrist, audiologist) , which offers a decent amount of freedom and great salary. Also there was college professor (which is what I do) which offers a great deal of freedom regarding both hours worked and ability to choose to work on stuff that interests you. However, the financial rewards are not great.
Also on the list were several therapist positions, including clergy!, which are in high demand.

If you are interested in attending college, then these three offer choices for a wide variety of interests. (I found it interesting that technology was not mentioned much.) If you are thinking of not going to college, then the service profession is the wave of the future, but the pay is not great and the hours are long. In other words, try to go to college!

Good Luck!

Firstly I would look at what traits , skills and experiences I have inlife before deciding on which profession is suited to ensure a secure future. I would also look at lifestyle and accomedation for the career path i was choosing. I chose teaching after deliberating for sometime after getting my first degree in communications. I am proud to say that I have a posting next year. However teaching in USA doesn't pay as well as it does here so I would also assess what financial expectancies you want fromyour chosen proffesion. Good luck :)
