I understand your point and to the most part we have been conditioned this way....I like to challenge that by being PRESENT in all situations, engaging the person and environment in which I am interacting and by following/pursuing my hearts desires...
I'd like to think I am consciously alive =)

Yes, I am one of the walking half dead.
Half dead because I am sooooooooo tired all the time.
Half dead because I have so many aches and pains.
Half dead because I am half way (at least half) through my life.
Half dead because my life and the people in it can be sooooooooo boring.
And yet, I am half alive too.
Why?
I think therefore I am and I am in the philosophy section of YA!

If some one said that most people walk around half dead, that means they are not fully conscience of their own existence. It may also be they have not found a real purpose for their own life.
Most people find enlightenment it in different forms, Religion, Spiritually, or Purely Scientific, which it is only valid for the individual, therefore one is uniquely on what makes us truly happy. Personally, I am on my own path of happiness, I found it in the arts.

I guess one of the reasons a person can be considered half dead is that because he/she is numb or uncaring of what is going on around him/her. Being alive means participation (active or passive) in what goes on in your life and in the lives of people, things and events around you and in your world.
If I use the criteria I mentioned above, then I guess, am also guilty of nearly being half dead. It's because oftentimes, the daily grind gets to you as well as the seemingly unfairness of life. Anyway, I strive to be more alive each day and participating in YA is one way of doing it.

I am alive because I know the source of reality as eternal vs mere appearance, and I maintain that life by remembering the unmanifest potential as being manifest to the essential origins. Therefore, having knowledge of what is, not not merely of what appears, I have realized the truth of eternal life, and not dwelled on what must die, and hence is as dead already...
God bless all with knowledge as fitting each their most excellent potential.

variety is truly the spice of life! Doing the same thing day in, day out, in brain numbing. Seeking new adventures and new people, places and things to do and see will keep you alive, and interested.

The dead is a spiritual term meaning that one is lacking in spiritual understanding......
When one is likely to allow themselves to become open to being alive, one can be filled with the spirit.......
