I have Dell Inspiron 1501 and I am using it now to write this. It is a great laptop at a great price. For an even better price keep your eye on the website. Dell has unannounced sales all the time.
The good is that the Dell Inspiron 1501 is great multimedia laptop if properly equipped. With at least a Turion processor and 1GB of memory you can play most games, watch DVDs, edit photos, and surf the Internet with no problems.
The bad is if you skimp and get the Sempron processor you will have a very slow computer that won't be able to do more than one thing at a time. If you choose less than 1GB of memory don't think about upgrading to Windows Vista until you buy and install some more memory.

Good decision. DELL is the best brand to choose. In terms of performance or price or support. DELL is the best. Inspiron 1525 is a good model from DELL. You dont have to thing anything. Just order it. Mine is Inspiron 1520. I never had any kind of minor problems in ma laptop.

Dell laptops are rally great, the only problem with the Inspiron 1501 is the integrated graphic card which is not good for games. it's good for office, internet, music but not games.
if you want to be able to play games on average settings go for the inspiron 6400 which has a X1400 256mb pci-e 16X and is a good graphic card.
overall the inspiron 1501 is good for normal use, but not for games.
dells customer service is normal(not bad-not great).

Laptops are designed for certain things and upgrading laptops are difficult. If you are looking for gaming or video editing in a laptop you should be looking at a Dell XPS. However if you just want a laptop for general usage (internet, business, and music) that 1501 can suit you. There is one thing I suggest to anyone who buys dell.....buy the longest warranty with COMPLETE CARE. Complete care protects you for incidents that are not covered by your normal or extended warranty. You may think that the cost of the warranty and complete care puts it out of my price range. The warranty will pay for itself if your motherboard goes out or anything that is integrated on the motherboard.....like video or network. Have fun....and good luck!

Put it in the trash right away and get a good computer. Dells are some of the worst computers on the market today.
