Right I had the Zlob trojan on my desktop two days ago. I did not know this at the time. I just kept seeing pop ups saying I had a trojan and then being taken to a weird site selling anti virus. I did not trust it. So I went to Mcafee and installed their security centre. Scans were all clear. It seemed to go away. Then next tiome I log on ...computer running very slow. Ifigure its Mcafee...as it takes loads of memory up. So I go and start uninstalling bits...like thevirus protwection. The pop ups come back. Internet explorer starts not to work. I panic. I start a sysytem restore. I log back on. ****....now I cannot even acess the control panel....

This message comes up:

C:Windows/system32\rundill32.exe
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I went into safe mode, clicked off system restore, run Spyhunter, removed the trojan,....but as I cannot turn system restore back on in safe mode.....

Same problem with bullguard - and I tried to reboot big mistake - it will not reboot or give me a restore option - anyone know how to get the system to restore to a previous point in time before the update on start up? It is a hoax that just forces the anti virus to quarantine pretty much every file if you leave the computer running. Whatever you do not shut down your computer, I did and now it is completey screwed unless I can restore it to a previous point in time from this morning. Can't belive bullguard and bitdefender are hit by this. Kapersky seems to be ok as this is what is running on the lap top I am using now. OK update - I got back in using system restore but alot of the programs have problems - including the fact that there is no sound. I have asked bullguard to pay for an engineer to come and sort my computer out as I do not really want to sit here installing and uninstalling programs. Their customer service was not helpful and seemed grumpy when I told them what I thought. I will take it up with them in the future.

if you know the path to the location of the culprit - restart in safemode comand prompt, change directory to the path you have but dont type the filename yet.
when your prompt matches the right path type 'del [filename]'
if it says its hidden or can't then type 'del /ah [filename]'
get a program called hi-jack this after you restart and after the scan look at the entries very carefully for culprits, as there are things listed that you put and/or want there. but hijack this can remove the browser problems and lockouts and homepage changes.

Since you seem to be able to still access the internet, go to http://www.pandasoftware.com/ and let it do the free online scan of your pc. It will remove trojans and viruses.

Also visit majorgeeks.com and ask your question to the experts if you're still having trouble.

I suggest you to use the Avast Anti Virus and the Avast Virus Cleaner...It's quite simple and it's affective...
