My husband has been sick over the last 5 years and is in the process of getting his SSI...Therefore he can't just "get off his butt" and work.(thank you very much!!!).This is why I am the only one that works.

I really depends on where you live.

For example, you'd be middle class in most middle class towns of the Pittsburgh area but you might be lower middle if you lived in certain suburbs of a city that has a higher cost of living. You have to get the middle income class median of the US and then compare that to where you live.

Realtor.com used to have a cool calculator that you could use to see how much you'd have to make to have the same style of living in other areas of the country.

Lower middle class. I think $50,000 would put you solidly in middle class. Tell you husband to get off his butt and get a job. Then you would definitely be a solid middle class.

what's up with your husband? is he ok or is he sick/injured? if he's healthy, he should be working, right?! if he's ill, then God bless you and him and your child, and i hope he'll be ok.
