I wanted to know if you can use shredded paper rather than wood shavings for them to live in. THANKS!!!

You should combine wood shavings and paper together.
Small creatures like to chew on things and make nests.

Those are pretty good at jumping off cliffs when you pair them together. Use wood shavings...pine to be exact. Anything else you run the risk of worms or other bugs in the cage.

wood shavings are better, as the lemming may read the paper and get depressed, and you know what happens then...
Don't leave any string, sharp blades or pills in the cage either!
