If it's a laptop, it might be your battery. If it isn't charged enough, it will shut down. Or maybe your battery is defective.
Also it might be caused by a virus. Do a scan to search for viruses.

This type of situation is when you need a good PC tech to see it happen so that he can observe what is occurring at the time. Sorry, but there really aren't enough details yet to allow a specific answer to your question. APC automatic power control?
I've come across power saving control conflicts between hardware vs. Windows, failing power supply, overheating CPU, overheating hard disk, and failing motherboard situations which would fit your general description of the problem.

Check the power down options in control panel
If you are working solely with a mouse ( especially a USB mouse) It is likely the pc is not detecting that you are still active and will invoke powerdown. Keyboard activity is needed to keep it awake rather than hibernate. Reset all the power options in Ctrl Panel

Did you check your motherboard BIOs settings?
It may have a facility to monitor the CPU's temperature. Your PC might be shutting down because of overheating.
When your CPU operates, it can generate heat and when the heat builds up, your motherboard can buckle under the hot temperatures.
Did you hear any whirring noises before it shut down? Do you have a case fan to cool down the temperature of PC case?

Your toshiba has a ventilator inlet on the backside, that is probable clogged up or you preserve it on a comfortable floor so it gets close. What i'm asserting is that your computer overheats. attempt to blow the ventilator with compressed air and shop the computer on confusing, flat floor aka table acceptable.
