Here is the tiebreakers used to select KC and NYG:

FOR KC:

Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). *[kc and denver split]*

2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. *[KC 4-2 in DIV; DEN 3-3 in DIV...KC wins tiebreaker]*

FOR NYG:

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants. *[NYG, STL, CAR, GB: All eligible teams are from different divisions]*

2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
*[No teams played all of the eligible teams this season]*

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. *[NYG 7-5, GB 7-5, CAR 6-6, STL 6-6: STL and CAR eliminated...reverts to two team tie breaker between NYG and GB]*

Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head, if applicable. *[N/A]*

2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. *[Both 7-5, tied]*

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. *[Only two common games, does not meet minimum]*

4. Strength of victory. *[calculated by combining the winning percentage of all teams DEFEATED by the two teams...NYG opponents 54-74 (.422) and GB 49-79(.383), NYG win the tiebreaker.]*

That's a lot of info, but that is how we got our last seeds in each conference.

giants won because they tied with carolina and the rams but had a better conference record. (giants-- 7-5, rams , carolina, 6-6). KC got in because they tied with denver , who lost, and kc had a better head to head record.
