Confirming - there is no problem if you get it from the official site, but I always have my antivirus programme up and running and updated daily anyway - just in case.

However, while Firefox is not as vulnerable to virus infections and spyware as Internet Explorer, it has become popular enough so that virus and other malware programmes are now being written to affect it. That's why I browse with Opera.

If you surf the net, you'll find out nothing is free from viruses and spyware. However, as long as you download it from its official site, you'll be safe. Always keep your anti virus and spyware updated and it helps to have a good firewall.
I use Firefox as its easier to use. (but that's just me).

Better to be on safeside. You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

Yes, it is safe to use and have used it for quite a number of years now. The tab-browsing feature which is copied by IE7 is a cool-feature which I liked most as it removes the clutter on your desktop whenevery you open up several windows at once. Of course, based on experience, it is a littel bit slower than IE.

Ive tried downloading this safely many times.
I talk for myself and if you do get it its a absolute nightmare.
the one i downloaded was full of viruses,i had to reformat my hard drive it was so bad.
after i done this i found a safe one, well i thought i had,my computer went nuts using fire fox, lost files, mouse freezing up just general bizarre things happening.
even if you do find a safe one as i did eventually i think you will end up using what browsers you have now.
some say fire fox is good,i think its crap, not just cause of the trouble i had,its just the whole set up of the page is crap.
If you do want to try it click the link.

good luck mate.

ok son, let uncle nerdypants tell ya a c00l trick, if you are unsure if a file is safe then first go to: START MENU, ALL PROGRAMS, ACSECORRIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM RESTORE.
then click on CREATE A RESTORE POINT and then type a name like: before firefox and then download it. if the firefox had viruses u cant fix then juz go to system restore only this time click on RESTORE TO ANOTHER POINT(or somthin like that) and select the point that u created previosly then just wait while it gathers info and settings and it will go back to the point it was before.
