Use similar triangles.

Measure the shadow of the building, using the paper as you go. Reach a point where standing the paper vertically on the ground matches the shadow cast by the building. The ratio of the length of the paper's shadow to the height of the paper is the same as that of the building's shadow to its height.

1) Lets say height of building = x
2) Note the height of piece of paper, say a
3) Hold the piece of paper straight up touching the ground, and measure the shadow length of the piece of paper, say b
4) Now, measure the shadow length of the building, say y
5) HEIGHT OF BUILDING x = y*a/b

P.S:- You should measure the shadow lengths at same time for accurate results.

Keep the paper in your hand and stretch your arm.
Just let vanish the building behind the paper. Now
(distance from the paper to your eyes) / (size of the paper) =
(distance from the building to your eyes) / (altitude of the building)
Measure the first three lengths and calculate number four.
