You can also get a splitter, although using a splitter will mean you view EXACTLY the same screen on both monitors! Using a dual port video card (or two video cards) means you can view different information on each screen.

I have my laptop hooked up to my PC monitor and it just extends to the other side by side. Plug in you're extra monitor to your PC or monitor. Just right click on the screen and click on properties, then click on the settings tab. Next you'll see a 1 and 2 monitor click on the 2 then in the bottom you'll se a "extend my window desktop monitor to this monitor" option. Click on that then press apply. yuor scren will next go black then both monitors will work and you can open up windows on both monitors.
