Because it is deemed a Republican state
therefore conservative. Usually votes that
way as well.
Just the opposite with blue states.

Red represents Republican and blue represents Democrat. That's why they say Texas is a red state.

Cause the state's full of Republican REDnecks! Just Kidding. The Red in the flag represents 'bravery', and it's cause (probably) of the Alamo- the brave souls who stood up to the Mexicans.
