Now the question is what would you call this movie. I mean not the storyline- (mainly for the bong-heads ;) The black n' white effect which has been given to it, wat would u call it. I know it's not xactly b/w but it's something else.

The heavy use of b/w in the film is because it was based almost shot for shot on the layout of the graphic novels it was based on. The graphic novels used b/w with spot color to add to the noir aspect of the story which the film copies brilliantly. If you compare shots from the film to pages of the graphic novels it almost looks identical. The film was shot mostly on blue-screen which made the coloring effects so easy to add.

It is high contrast black and white - which facilitated the use of certain colors which have meaning in literature - the most noteworthy being the reds.
