oh i know this one.. an englishman told me that it was like that because of the way enemies could attack each other while riding in a horse and carriage.

Most? The UK, Hong Kong, and Australia do. Most drive on the right side of the road. The UK do bc in mideval times knights jousted with their right hands and it was easier to pull out your javelin from the right side and hold it there, thus they rode with their right sides facing their opponents. Australians were colonized by the british and adapted their method of travel. Hong Kong was also colonized by the british.

i know it had something to do with jousting matches. heard it on tv not long ago. something about having the joust in one hand to meet the opponent. then carriages and autos just carried the custom through to date

They don't. I think the UK and Australia are some of the only places that do.
