Let = allow which creates a perception that he must have your approval to keep his own money. It also creates the perception of dominance in the relationship. There may be other issues at hand if you are considering what priveleges to allow him to have.

If he agrees that he handles his finances poorly, perhaps he'll concede to allow you to handle his finances for him. There should be a mutual agreement between the two on either shared fiscal responsibility or which person will handle the bulk of that responsibility.
In my marriage, I (the husband) handle all of the finances only because my wife admits she isn't very good at it.

As a male.. I can handle my money just fine.. I believe if both work a job then outside of common bills and needs. Each should have there own bank account... Not that hiding or with-holding from your better half is right. Just never be totally dependent on anyone..

personally, I would, because I think my husband is more financially 'organized' than I am! I have terrible spending habits that get in the way of what I'm supposed to be paying, like bills!
I would trust my husband to take care of the finances, gladly!

I think it'd be nice if he had a personal account, and if I had a personal account as well as a joint account. I imagen that any guy that has enough restraint to put into a joint account and his own would be able to balance. But I think it's a maturity thing. Depends on the guy. Another good thing to think about: Is he good at math?

If I had a husband I would like to think that I'd choose one who could handle such trivial matters.

Money is a dirty business. I simply refuse to involve myself in the nastiness of paying bills. My honey is a financial wiz and takes care of me quite nicely. I got a 3 week trip to Europe for Christmas. I clean the house and make dinner, he takes care of the unpleasantness like paying the bills...and cleaning the cat litter box.

Now, here we go again... Trying to mimic Jason C? I got 23 million dollars by myself in China before I moved here and converted. I am financially adequate.

i think its wrong for a married couple to have separate finances, when you get married your lives merge and u should be working together like one person, a team, and if you don't trust the with money you shouldn't marry them
