I broke up with the bf weve had 6yrs of an on and off again realationship. I am the financial provider and i get to keep the house as he couldnt afford it on his own. We are not fighting he is still my best friend of many years Its just im not in love with him and ive somewhat forced him into the kept man lifestyle. anyhow How long do i give him to move out. He doesnt make much money and has little to no savings. I have alwasy been the provider. I dont want to be mean but i dont want to be a pushover .. What is a reasonable length of time and should i help him financially as well.

You have been living with a man and giving up sex without expecting a commitment of marriage from him?

I think it is a bit late to worry about being a pushover sweetheart.

Incidentally, why is this question in Marriage and Divorce. You were never married. This should be a question in the "shacking-up" category.

Gee, you seem to be the problem, you stated you virtually forced him to be a kept man, I reckon you owe it to him to get him going again. Don't do it for him but you should assist. I figure that could take 3 months. If you can't wait that long, very quickly introduce him to a hot babe that has room at her place. He'll be gone like greased lightning....

Find him a room,, if he cannot afford a place of his own,, pay for a couple of months then he is on his own,, the longer you and he wait the longer you both will not get on with your lives!

Give him 6 months...living isn't as cheap as it used to be. If you don't see him helping himself after a month, take it down to 3 months to let him know you mean business. If he starts showing progress on making it on his own, put it back up to 6 months.

if he really wants to find a place to live, it is completely do-able in 30 days. he's going to have to get a job or work more hours. but you do what you have to do.

Give him one month. And no, you don't pay for his move or his new home.
