There were no chickens like we have today back when the evolving process began prehistoric times, like the Pterodactyl bird (dinosaur). They were hens but different, and where was the Rooster to fertilize the egg in the Chicken? Chickens were breeded just like the cows we eat today. So I believe the egg came first from what ever species of the goose, chicken or the duck etc., The egg is evolution and mutates scientifically, humans are different, so which one of us came first the egg for Adam or Adam? hmmmm? Happy New Year

From a cellular biology point of view this question can be answered quite easily.
--->The egg came first because any female sex cell is called an egg.
If the egg is defined structurally as the hard shelled thing, and the chicken a feather covered animal, the answer is still simple. Evolutionary scientists believe the first hard shell egg was the amniotic egg laid around 300 million years ago, and was laid by the animal who was the link between amphibians and reptiles. One of the first dinosaurs that we know had feathers was the Archaeopteryx, and came much later. Modern birds would not arise until 150 million years ago, descending from theropod dinosaurs.

well if you think about it, then i think the egg because it's like adam and eve came without parents so why would a chicken need a parent first?

Regardless of rather or not one believes in Evolution or Creation the Chicken came first. The animals (according to Genesis) were created as animals, not embroyos. Evolution shows a slow evolving but the Chicken (or its ancestor) would have laid the egg of its own genetic make-up.

Chickens evolved from egg laying reptiles, so the egg came first.

Me personally i think the egg came first, cause maybe their was a deformation that cause the egg to evolve into a chicken.

Based on my experiences at Denny's it's definitely the egg. The egg is served at breakfast and chicken is generally served at lunch and dinner.
