The mind has to be gradually and systematically brought under control. The will has to be strengthened by slow, continuous and persevering drill. This is not a child play and a fad to tried one day and discarding the next. It is a life work and to be attained is well worth all that it cost us to reach it;being nothing less than realization of our absolute oneness with divine. for information on mind :http://spiritualcenter.blogspot.com

I agree for the most part. However anything forced or defying the very things that make us human is to also defy or creator. Experiences are out there for a reason. There isn't one way to enlightenment and there are varying degrees. And I don't believe there to be a "cost" either. There is no cost to peace of mind. It is something we choose daily and can only benefit from. It isn't "life work" but our "jobs" there is a pay off in living in the moment at all times. There is never any suffering in the moment. Only the choice to suffer.

why control ones mind? ones mind is the very essense of our being, and is the divine source of what separates us from another. to control it would lead to a world where ones leaders could accumulate a sourceful way to control ones peoples thoughts and actions, and then what to society?
and if not, although it would be heavenly to understand ones mind and the systematic function it undergoes, why control it?

Controlling minds are what some religious leaders and politicians around the world love to do. You might want to rethink using the word control and maybe substitute self-discipline.
