I'm a college student that uses my pc daily to browse the web, type paper and check email - that's it. I don't use my PC for gaming or anything that requires a robust system. I saw some pics of a PS3 running windows on the internet. Can I use a PS3 as a desktop replacement? Like I said, I don't need a powerful computer. I want to sell my desktop (3ghz dell) and buy a PS3 *IF* I can run XP on the machine as smoothly as my desktop.

Well considering that the ps3 will have a browser, you COULD use it to check email and stuff but you wont be able to type up term papers. Think of it as a suped up internet terminal for your tv that just happens to play games. Also, it will be a pain in the you know where typing up emails on the on screen keyboard so I doubt that you can fully ween yourself from a PC.
