I could never eat an animal, but I'm wondering if there are genuine animal rescuers out there who eat meat?

And if you answer yes, how do you reconcile the 2...that is, why would you kill something you love to eat, when there are so many other options available?

Strange how people like to compare it to eating plants....when a tomato starts mooing, then I think you can compare!

Can you truly love plants and still eat them?
Hey I love my Yorkie but I would not eat her.
Yes I eat meat!
So you love trees but you kill tomatoes, carrots, lettuce etc. same thing
Take botany, plants including tomatoes, are living just because they don't moo does not mean they are not living. Plants are living organisms. You are killing an organism when you eat it, it is natural we have to consume things to survive, you are trying to act like you are better than meat eaters, you are not!
I bet you have a garden and plants, you love them and YET! you eat them.
Is that how you justify it to yourself into eating them?
Hey we all have to pay the piper in the end. Don't think you are getting in for free cause ya don't eat meat. You plant killer!
Happy New Year!

Yes you can. If you respect nature and the way things were created you can eat meat or not. Animals eat meat. Your body was designed to eat meat. Take a look at your teeth your molars are for chewing meat and veggies, your front are made for tearing meat. If you look at the research done on how your equipped to eat both meat and veggies, you will see what nature intended. If you do however plan to go all veg then never forget to take supplements for everything you are missing in your diet. Their is nothing wrong with eating meat or veggies, it is all preference. So their is no right or wrong answer. Being a true animal lover and a vegetarian are different things. I love animals, my life revolves around them. I am a vet asst. I own and love many animals. I don't believe in cruelty. If how the way the meat is made is an issue, the think about kosher meat. They have strict laws abiding by their religion to make sure they have a happy stress free life and NO pain in the end. That way you know exactly what your doing when you eat meat. Follow what your body tells you weather you want to listen to your body or your mind. You were designed to eat meat, but you have the choice to not.

I am a true animal lover an I am not a vegetarian. I think the distinction lies in pets vs animals. Of course I'm not going to grill up my cat next time I get a craving for meat. And a cow is most certainly not a pet. I tried being vegetarian... I just can't survive off plants alone.

This is kind of the same way I think. This question confuses me like crazy everday, I believe you can be a true animal lover, and still eat meat. I'm only 15 and my dad makes me eat meat, for my health. I dislike it greatly and am constantly thinking of the animal I'm eating while I'm chewing, I don't want to go into graphic details and I don't know if you can imagine, but it's terrible and sad to me.
I love animals to no end, more then people, lol. My parents aren't like that and think I'm just being silly and want something to complain about.
And I beg to differ about the whole 'vegetables are living too' thing. I know that they are living and all, but it's so different. They don't show emotions or communicate with us, eating veggies and fruit is absolutely no way like eating animals.
I have a very close friend to me who was a vegetarian for about ten years (much older then me, lol) because of her love for animals but was told by her doctor if she didn't begin eating meat soon, she'd die. So yes, I think you can be a deep down true animal lover and not be a vegetarian.

Yes
There are many animal lovers who are omnivores, there are many people who like animals, but don't obsess over them, who are vegans.
There are vegans who love their leather bags, shoes (not the high fashion ones but moccasins and the like and simple shoulder bags), make dream catches in the traditional way using leather, have leather throngs around their neck with crystals, have leather collars on their dogs, feed their animals meat; yet will not eat meat because they couldn't eat/harm an animal!!
It is a personal decision and sometimes a medical one. So I feel to each their own and so long as a balanced diet is eaten there are no health issues.
Vegetarians eat animal products, fish, etc. Vegans don't eat any animal products at all
Happy New Year all

It's just the circle of life. Some animals eat plants, other animals eat the plant eaters, the animals die and the plants get nuterance from them, it's all tied together. Just like some animals eat plants and meat so can humans ie. humans are animals (sounds bad but it's true).
Humans take care of plants just like they take care of animals, so why should they eat the plants and not the animals?? I love animals too, and I would never eat my pets, but then again I didn't plant any of the vegetables in my refrigerator ether, so I eat them.

So does that mean that animals that eat meat should be come vegitarians too...maybe lions would like some lettuce you should take a stab at feed the lions a diet of lettuce and soy.
I don't keep cows, and if I had a cow as a pet I doubt I would eat it, but without a face on my steak I will continue to eat steak. Why? well because it tastes good.

You Pansy. Do you really think the cow cares if you eat him. I run a stray animal feeding center and can honestly say that I truly love animals. But that does not mean that I don't enjoy a good steak. Love of animals does not mean you can't eat meat. If you don't like meat then fine, more for me.

Love comes in many forms and is relative. To what extent are you referring to? I love the color blue, but not for my grass. I'm a dog lover... as a pet. The only type I prefer. Yet I ate some dog, keggogi, in South Korea to see how it tastes. I ate all types of weird-to-Americans food while serving in the Army. I love animals for food. God or whoever your creator was, gave us dominion over the birds, fish, and animals. Christians were admonished that false preachers would have doctrines that commanded people to abstain from meat. Is salmon really bad for our health? Beans are part of the meat group, aren't they?

I am sorry but I love animals but I am not trying to eat something that I have raised or have as a pet. Unfortunately it is the food chain and I do enjoy many kinds of meat. However I am not supporting the slaughter of animals for no reason.
