I most definately agree! Being a student in high school, studying is just to obtain knowledge for a test, nothing more. I don't actually know half the stuff that I learn anymore, I just know it until I take the test, and after that I forget it all because I have to move on to studying different things. This doesn't mean I don't learn, it just means that I don't learn AS MUCH. So, as you stated, studying is now just to get an A on a test, not to learn anything. Kind of sad that we're wasting all this time in school to learn very little =(

Wow, there are sure a lot of deep questions coming out at this tinme of the night where I'm spedning more time deleting typos because I should have quit an hour ago.
It is an interesting question that I'm marking because I think I would like to respond to it but I have to think first and there is none of that going on right now, so I'll have to think about it with a fresh mind in the morning. If I come up with something, I'll edit.

It's been lost for decades now. Study meant going in-depth. It's all instant now. "Studying" for exams, for grades, whatever. Study meant understanding. It meant moving a step closer to wisdom. Yeah, I just realised I'm saying the same things you said... anyway, I agree.

Yes, the decline in study is what has been largely responsible for the lack of technological progress in the world over the last 50 years (except for that whole going-to-the-moon, inventing-computers, making astonishing progress-in-medicine thing).
What rock are you living under? LOL

Yes i agreed too. The true meaning of studying now is to get over with our exams and get our break. After exam, every single detail we studied will be thrown.

Excellent question and in America, the answer is yes. I do not blame the students. Times are different and politically, it's to the advantage of this govt. to keep Citizens dumbed down.

yes, the meaning has lost to people who read to get better grades, better standard of living but not to those who want to acquire knowledge and understanding.
But most of the jobs require knowledge on how to do things, where creative and innovation are not required.
