Why do you listen to other people deciding your life?

because, it's against their beliefs.

ok sooo... basically your parents want to ariange a marriage for you, and youd don't want them to, am I right?
well basically, from what I've learned, arrainged marriage serves the following purposes:
1) it preserves caste.
2) it helps one not have emotions towards family
3) it allows the family to make alliances by marriage. basically lets families use children as pawns.
4) it allows the family to keep dowlry within the family.

sometimes arranged marriages turn out wonderful, the husband and wife come to love each other. and the whole thing turns out well
it can be, however, a rather messy thing, as you can end up with people who you can't stand. it can make life hell. it can create abusive relationships. it can make sex rape.

either improper or sacrelegious.
us westerners don't practice much of anything else.

ultimately, it ought to be your decision.
choose your own wife. but make sure she loves you back.
take nothing from her which is not freely given. take not of her untill her passion is arroused. love her, care for her and provide for her. and uh just generally be nice to her. uh and, I know I've said this already, but make sure she loves you of her own free will--- she is her own person.

Ok, first I'm not sure what you are saying, but lots of marriages work without love.
Commitment is what keeps it together. Arranged marriages are not about love.
Its whatever you decide. What is best for you.
