Kay, So I'm 17 turning 18 this year, and my boyfriend is 20, will be 21 soon. I've been dating him(on and off) since I was 12. He has always been the love of my life, I couldn't picture my life without him. Of course we fight and argue every once in a while like every relationship. We are having a baby in March 07'. Right now I'm not exactly "allowed" to see him though we still sneak to be together. I still live with my parents so I take their opinion very highly, and I hate having to lie to them. But they can't stand him, never have been able to for their own reasons. How can I make them understand how much I love this boy? I don't want to have to wait until I turn 18(9months away) to be able to actually go out in public with him and not worry about someone seeing us.

You;re having his baby, so your parents shouldn't stand in the way of that. Even so, they could still press charges against him for statutory rape, so be careful.

In any case, they can't stop the father of the baby from taking part in the child's life. Talk to them. Also listen to them. You didn't specify what their reasons are for disliking him so much.

I can understand what you are going through. I moved out when I was 17 yrs old because I didn't want to put up with my parents. At this point they have no control over you. You still need to respect you parents but this is your life.

You are going to be having a family of your own now. I moved out and got married as soon as I turned 18 yrs old. I have now been married for 3 yrs. I have a beautiful little girl that is 8 months old.

I mother was never happy with my decision but guess what? This is not her life.

As a parent all you can do it direct you child the right direction then they have to take it from there.

good luck---cheers

When you have his child he has a legal right to see you and the baby and your parents cannot put a stop to that. You need to talk to your parents about this. This is not just about you and this guy. This is about you, the guy and a child. If you can't make them see your side, you may want to consider moving out or the worse case scenario become emancipated.

Tell them bluntly. Or make a plan to move out and support yourself. You seem like you could be learning to be more mature. If not, you need to grow up fast for that baby if you are keeping it. If he's the baby's daddy, your parents need to know you want him as part of the baby's life.

Ask them why they don't like him and speak with them maturely and respectfully.

Good luck. Please try to remember that you are your parents baby. I'm sure that they only have your best intrest at heart. Give it time and see what happens, although I agree that they should lighten up a bit. Please ignore the comment from "Sam", obviously he's never been expecting a baby at 17.

You've ruined your life and the baby's. Your great boyfriend doesn't look like he's going to be sticking around either, thanks to your parents. Good luck with everything because you're going to need it. Can you say "Single mom on welfare"?
