We have always taken our tree down before Jan 1st. It is nice to enjoy it through that time as most of our are off school and work during that week after Christmas. We want to take in down while we are all still there with time to put it all away before we have to go back to work and school and then don't have the time.

At an appropriate time, within the first ten days after the New Year. Last year, the people across the hall from me kept their Christmas wreath hung on their door until March!
Be a good neighbor. ;)

I wait to take it down until it becomes a fire hazard. If I could I'd keep it up all year.
