Somebody told me that I would have bad luck for the whole year if I didn't take down our Christmas Tree before the New Year began. Is this true? If so, then I'm screwed!

You are safe - it's totally false. Sounds like someone was just messing with you. Happy New Year.

I've never heard of this superstition before o_O But aren't there 12 days of Christmas? The only such superstition I've heard of was for Japan's Doll Festival (Hina Matsuri) where if the family does not remove the doll display before a certain day, the daughter will have bad luck in marriage or something like that.

I think the superstition would be true only if you believe in it.

Who wants the joy of Christmas to go away in the new year? ):

Happy 2007! :D

That definitely can not be true. Here in Spain, nobody removes the Christmas Tree till after the 6th of January, that is after the celebration of the Three Kings.

No that is superstition. Don't worry. I know people who just exchange the Christmas ornaments for Mardi Gras ornaments and leave the tree for months. Nothing bad comes of it.
