In general, Twilight Zone and others of the era show that without body humor, sexual inuendo, profanity, and forced laugh tracks, TV shows could actually have thoughtful and original writing that will live for 50+ years.

If you are still watching it, you see that the passenger has this premonition because he was the Nazi commander that gave the order to destroy the freighter. It is sort of a just punishment moral. It says, what if what you did to others is done to you.

I dont know watch it and tell us what you think?
I have seen many but you will have to get more specific for a fair answer. Premonition is a lot of Rod Serling's work, and yet it is also based on fiction, so that no one would be able to copy him. one time he wrote a script about a hijacking in a hypothetical way, and someone repeated his script and actually committed the crime. After that Rod Serling felt so bad he never wrote anything again but fiction. Way out stuff and unimaginable.

Yes, actually.

The entire genre of Science Fiction was developed to force the reader/observer to think about possibilities of the future in the next ten minutes or the next ten thousand years.

And you are thinking, aren't you?
