i don't see why you'd want to but go to control panel, then security centre and at the bottom you will see windows firewall click that and turn if off.... and if you do don't forget you computer will be open for attack so be careful

You don't say what kind of Firewall but most have an icon in the Systray and you just right click that and then left click on 'exit'.
You can override the XP firewall ( and Virus ) in Control Panel

You don't tell us what you have.
With WindowsXP, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel,Firewall.
Open whatever antivirus program you have and click on the Help button.
