will it hurt more because im a virgin?
how long will it take?
if i were to close my legs while they were inserting that thing waht will they say and do?
do i really have to go through this now?

i know i have a lot of questions but i need to know. im 16 and my mom says its time for me to have my first exam. i really dont believe her. i dont want a male or a female looking at my private area. i do occasionally have irregular periods considering how long i have had my period, but could this be a reason to go. they are sometimes painful too but they are getting better. im really scared because i have a very low tolerance for pain and i know i should get over that but can you all give me a little information about this. im so sorry for all the dumb questions but i need to know. my mom and i dont talk much so how do i go about trying to get her to change her mind. is it really true that i should go?
my friends have also told me that it is very uncomfortable and embarass

First experiences to see a GYN isn't negative at all. The proceedure may be a little uncomfortable, but it shouldn't hurt too much. The discomfort mainly comse from the provider inserting what's called a vaginal spectulum. The time the exam takes mainly depends on the provider. Average is fifteen to twenty minutes if that. It may take ten or less. Trust me, you wont be able to close your legs. The GYN will have on an exam table with your legs in what's called stirups. They simply keep your legs open for the provider to do their proceedure. Seeing the GYN can determine an entire host of female gentiourinary problems such as cevervical/ovarian cancer and STDS (but you wont have to worry about that). Just remember that your doctor is a trained and licesened professional. Once you do it, it's over and you'll have to do it once a year to ensure that you remain healthy in your gential area.

don't worry
you have to have this done at some point
your doctor (f u have a male you can ask for a male)
will be wearing gloves and sticking a finger in your vagina
ure legs have to be open
it wont hurt just be uncomfortable and check around
then stick a speculum in there it looks verryy scary but dont worry it doesnt hurt and check around
this test wont take more than like 30 mins
they have to check ure breasts
then check the outer pubic area then the inner.
it will feeel very uncomfortable and maybe a little painful

Don't be scared, although I understand your concerns about going for the first time. I too was terrified of the experience, but it only took like 15 minutes and wasn't that bad at all. Now, when I go to my yearly exam, it's nothing.

I was a virgin when I went too and I asked lots of questions. I also told them I was afraid of it hurting and they were very gentle and it didn't hurt at all. My advice for you is to speak up to them. They will understand.

It will be all right :)
