I have the same problem. I have been told it is because I talk really loud sometimes and I am quite aggressive. If I decide I want to do something I just do it. It is really annoying and upsetting at times at least for me. Also I like to wear hiking boots (Brahmas) and I don't really dress *Girly*. And I don't wear make-up and fix up my hair all the time. I do alot of buns for my hair and I think God gave me the kind of skin I have and I don't need to change it. Plus I am just a tad bit overweight. I am happy the way I am but LOTS of other people seem to want me to be different. Including my mom, and I am 39. I majored in Horticulture when I went to college and loved working in it until I hurt my back, so now I am out of that. Well anyway, I don't know about you but I just tell them all to go F*** themselves. If it doesn't bother my husband or myself, the rest can get over it. Actually, he could get over it too, he knew how I was before we got married and I am too old to change my ways now.

Okaay..well count your blessings..I know a girl who got sent to live in a tent with men and it was dark so no-one knew until the morning when all these guys were walking around free-balling and scratching cracks..lets just say she screamed her head off and ran out the tent..all the guys were like..wat da hell?..we ran over to her and calmed her down but I guess it was an honest mistake by the billeting personnel my friend looked so much like a guy..short hair, short, stalky that everyone assumed she was a guy until she spoke..since then she's made a point of always saying something..
in your case its signals u are refering to..well it could be your just natural charisma..I doubt there are any real signal u are sending off unless u got an antena on your head..and if others are telling u that ur giving off signals well maybe they are the ones trying to get a signal from u..some people are born with charisma..it isn't just str8 people who have IT..something that oozes out sexuality and draws others to u..you just happen to attract the same sex it doesn't mean u have to be a lesbian but whatever you got they want a piece of..as for others precieving you as a lesbian don't worry about that just let them know your str8 and to stop hating..

If you don't have a man, get one.
No on a serious note, you may be spending too much time with a female?
The way you dress or your hair style? Do you sit like a guy?
These are all sterotypes and no one should judge others by ones looks or who they hang out with.
My advice would be "who care if they think you are gay"? You know what you are. You don't have to prove anything to anyone! Just be yourself. Don't let anyone push your buttons. Just because you haven't meet the right guy yet, doesn't mean you are a lesbian.

Sometimes it could be looks , style , behavior. I would rather sit and play Half life 2 then go on some fancy date. I act like a dude quite a lot I know all about games , computers etc....
It really does not matter if they see you making out with men they will put A and B together and find out for them selfs.

Maybe you hang out with a particular girl too much? Go find a boy friend. People will not think you're a lesbian anymore.

SO have any boy in mind? Try to talk to your girl friends about him. I'm sure they won't think you're a lesbian. But make sure not to sound as if you're just doing this just to sending the vibe 'I'm-not-a-lesbian'. Be casual.

It's really hard to say because you didn't describe yourself at all. I think men have pretty basic simple stereotypes of what heterosexual women are supposed to look like, and it helps to have long hair, or wear a dress or skirt, or make up. You don't really need all of the above if your style is kind of butch, just compromise with one and it will help. Other than that, I don't know, maybe you have a masculine voice or personality? That's okay, just be yourself but find ways to let guys know you're interested.

Maybe it has something to do with the way you dress, talk or behave. This would make it tough if you are looking for a male companion. Good luck.
