We have our priorities mixed up. If America really were so worried about offending people, it wouldn't have invaded Iraq (under false pretenses, pretending to seek the OK of the UN and ignoring the UN when it did NOT support America's intentions) and thus offended a whole planet.

It's one thing when Pres. Ford pardoned Nixon and everyone criticized him. That's now widely seen as a courageous and good move. But Bush's unpopular actions are not likely to be looked at positively 30 years from now. He's no Ford OR a Lincoln.

If America is so worried about offending people then why:

Are they not having the poor in the South after all the bad storms where many are homeless and jobless
Stick their noses internationally in other people's business
Fascinated with the goings-on about famous no-talent personalities
Ignoring the fact that now over 3,000 service people have died in a ridiculous bogus war
I could go on, and on, but you get the point.

Because some moronic fool may have a hot head and take an ignorant comment to a whole different level and end up doing something stupid...Haven't you learned anything from watching the news?

Well, it is not "America" that is so worried about offending people. It's the PC bunch that tries to avoid offending people.

Also, every example you mentioned is contoversial-the opponents of which make their opposition known: the death penalty, pornography and "soft porn" on network t.v. In at least one of your cited examples, it's not about what is considered offensive, but rather, what is considered "appropriate" for our culture.

America is not afraid to offend, the Christians seem to think that bringing back the age of witch hunts and heratics is the best way. they offend everytime they oppose equal rights on the basis of the bible. Not everyone believes in that book, but they don't seem to care who they offend in their persuit of Puritanical Ways and a dictatorship based on irrational fears
