Vechile Battery- The connecting points should be clean and also tighten enough as loose contacts discharges the battery soon, The battery water level must be checked at least once every 2 months,The vechile must be driven at least once every week which will make the battery charging position on and okay, Never totally drain the battery as it reduces battery life.
If u will take the above care the Vechile battery will run smoothly and trouble free for years. Normally a Car battery lasts for 2-3 years and then it requires replacement.

All the answers you have got so far are on the money... To add if you ever have to store the car disconnect the battery Neg terminal and use a trickle charger to put it back at full charge when pulling it back out of storage...
Also if the battery is over 12 months old never hurts to check it and use a trickle charger to top the CCA every now an then...
Good Question...

In addition to keeping terminals clean, turn off accessories like the stereo, and anything plugged into the lighter, like a phone charger when it's parked overnight.
