There is no BEST Anti-virus software. If we all used the BEST, then hackers would write viruses to beat it. So diversity is the best way to go.

I use Norton Anti-virus. Some of my friends use McAfee. Others use AVG Anti-virus. Check the reviews at http://www.cnet.com

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Norton's good, but extremely heavy on resorces. if u have a computer with over 1 gb ram then u can go 4 it. else go for Kaspersky antivirus, it's light on resources and does blazing speed scans (it was even ranked as the best antivirus by a test by detecting over 97% of the viruses). However the Worst antivirus ever is Quickheal. That piece of crap could'nt even detect a single infection on my comp. Later when i switched to kaspersky i discovered that i had 432 infections which quickheal didi not detect.

There r several anti virus software in the Market, The top manufacturers are:

Nortan
Mcafee
PC CILIN
Avast
.............. and hundreds of other.
Normally Norton is considered better, but it takes too much of memory and time to run/Scan.
It is better to backup your important data's at time, and use a fireball and avast software to prevent system from virus attacks, As no software is the end, as the software is upgrading them daily the virus is also growing in the same pace.
Today if A is best tomorrow it is possible D is the best.
Don't be puzzled go for any of one and ENJOY SURFING.
(Don't forget to back up of your data)

Actually there is a place online , I think its cnet.. but just put ratings for the best antivirus software..I bought bitdefender . rated number two with best reviews..but when its download updates and working sometimes slows my system down and I have alot of ram on board and fast processor so couldnt be the system but other than that it seems to work ok.I also have installed several other programs meant to deter people hacking where they can be traced and tracked to their homes or sites and then the program automatically alerts the authorities to them and their activites..This all takes place without their knowledge as soon as they try to enter the system

It is not an easy question to answer. To answer this one has to have access to all the anti-virus software, which is generally not possible. I use Trend Micro Pc-cillin which is wonderful while using the Internet(which is the main source of all types of virus etc.).

Moreover, you should always scan CDs and other storage media that you get from others, in order to keep your PC healthy. Genuine and licenced software helps, though some software are so coslty, so that the cost itself defeats the purpose.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:
