I think this is simply a matter of civil rights. To me, there is no legitimate reason why gay people should not marry. There was a time when most states wouldn't allow whites and blacks to marry, but now that seems ludicrous. Hopefully, we'll feel the same way about gay marriage in a few years. The argument that the Bible prohibits gay marriage is completely irrelevant because marriage is a state civil matter - you don't have to be married in a church for your marriage to be legal. The same is true of the argument that the purpose of marriage is to foster procreation - we don't require married people to have children, do we? I think those who are anti-gay marriage should focus on other issues that actually harm people!

If we are truly a free country, then any marriage should be legal. It might say in the Bible that it is a sin, but if it's true then I think God will do the judging when the time comes. I believe the Bible also says that God loves all his children, and that He will forgive us any sin if we ask it of Him. 'Judge not lest ye be judged", and 'Let the person without sin cast the first stone' are also in the Bible. They may not be exact quotes from the Bible, but it's close. Anyway, my point is, if you're going to use the Bible "against" gay marriage or gay people, then remember to read it right. You can't just pick and choose what you want. I very much support gay marriage.

For a start they shouldn't call it a marriage. Marriage is a 'so yesterday' word. I think they should be called commitment ceremonies. I like the way that sounds.

This issue just angers me. This country was founded on religious freedom.....BUT people who believe that because the bible says marriage is an union between a man and woman that everyone else should believe that too just isn't right. I believe in a higher being....but just because your book says something I don't understand why I should be forced to follow it. So much for constitutional rights eh? Freedom of religion my ***.

I believe it was Patrick Henry, one of our founding fathers who was quoted as saying Give me Liberty or give me death (or someone aorund that time...) The brain doesn't work so well whenone is tired.....
Personally, I have to agree... this is a country created for freedom from a tyrrannical theocratic government... and here we are in the smae position all over again. Why can't I get married to my partner and live a long monogamous life? And don't quote your book of mythology to me either.

I have three kids. Two of them are straight, one of them is gay. Why should my son not have the same rights, responsibilities, and priveleges of marriage that my daughters do? Vote fo equality. Support gay marriage!

It is wrong & should be banned !! It is against nature as the human race to survive needs a Man & Women to give birth to a human, which marriage is all about !! Any minister who allow's this abomination should be stripped of his leadership in the church !!!!!
