Hi!
I'm comparing a tabloid and broadsheet newspaper articles to find out which has the longest words and sentences.
But I'm not sure which would be the best sampling method to use. ie. Random sampling, Stratified sampling, etc
which would most suitable to use?

Thank you for any help you can offer.
xx

It would be difficult to do completely random sampling because you would have to make sure you have an equal chance of choosing a particular word to count.

Stratified sampling would probably be more efficient, since the papers are naturally divided into sections, pages, articles, etc. You would randomly choose a section, then a page in that section, then an article, etc.

If you already have the articles to compare then I'd use simple random sampling. Use a random number generator and select the corresponding words from each article.
Good luck - sounds like an interesting project.

Use Quota Sampling, It's the easiest form of sampling with the most effective results. This is when yoy choose the first values or items which come to hand.

Why is part a.) P(X = 1) instead of "P(X <= 1)" or "1 - P(0)"? Since it is stating "at least"? That is, is there a key statement in that question of part a.) that let s you know to only calculate when the r.v. is 1?
