Prostitution is defined as doing a sexual favor in exchange of something. what parents ask when they meet the guy who is going to marry their daughter? Answer-how much money do you have in the bank? Lets be honest. Most people get married because of money. Would you marry a poor guy or girl? everybody would say no. Many other married to get the citizenship. Several other to get out of their home, maybe because they want their own place but cannot afford it. So marriage is a good solution. Many others because they are lazy and want free house, cars, travel and so on. In fact, people get marriage for many reasons but love.

Anyone who gets married for money is missing out on a truly rewarding relationship with another person. I have been in a relationship were money couldn't have mattered a bit, and we were always able to keep each other happy and make each other smile. Money makes things easier, and the higher the amount, there certainly most likely will be less fights about it.
Also, just because people marry for reasons other than love doesn't mean that everyone does. I would bet that of the marriages that work, the majority were for honest reasons, not because of money or anything other than two people that love each other and want to be together.

My parents have never asked any of my past boyfriends that. And I did marry a guy that comes from a lower class bracket than my family's.
Not everyone marries for money or to further themselves. You could marry for love and also make something of yourselves down the road. Just because someone marries for love doesn't mean that they are poor or will stay poor. Same goes for someone that marries for money, just because someone is rich now doesn't mean that they will be rich later on in life.

Yes, people get married for a lot of different reasons, however I don't think I'd compare marriage to prostitution. My wife brought as much to our marriage as I did, financially and materially so I feel like we have always been totally equal in our relationship. Not all people marry for money and stability. There are still people like us who marry for love and companionship. My wife is my life partner and our marriage is a partnership between us.

If you get married for money you're doing it for all the wrong reasons. God I'm sick of people thinking that women are all gold-diggers, cause I'd be damned happy to find one useless man who could at least pay his part of the rent or buy his share of food, cause you know what it's never happened. So if marriage is legal prostitution, that would mean the man is making his wife screw other men for money that he takes from her, and smacks her around while telling her it's for her own protection. I'm 33, never been married because so far there hasn't been a man I've wanted to take care of for the rest of my life. They are just too destructive, useless, lazy, abusive, and too expensive. Next!

I think you are right and that you are on to something here. That is the way it has always been and I don't see it changing. Most Rich Wives don't even have to do housework in addition to the bedroom duties. Be prepared for the attack of angry female answerers. Most of the women so far talk about love, trust, or they "don't know." They don't have the guts to confront the reality of the situation.
Skyehigh I hate to say it, but you attract losers. You need help.

the fact is that although people look for the partner's benefits inside a marriage, the whole process of getting married is based upon the very instinctive need of human being to socialize. on the other hand since you can't marry for a limited time(!!) you should take the circumstances under consideration so that those other things won't make you break your marriage.

Marriage is an institution based on trust. I know there are people who get married for other reasons. That's between them and God.
I know I won't get married unless I find a man that is worth more than I am.
I'm worth a lot !!

you know it's funny you asked that question.
Like when I give my hubby real good sex, and then imediately after that I ask him for money to go buy some cloths or stuff he is REALLY GENEROUS...lol
I never thought of it except now, when you said it. But I guess it's true.
I think what you are saying is the common truth, it might not be morally true but it is what is happening more and more.

being married and in love i for one did not get married for money, sex, or a home. my husband lived with his brother at the time. he has no money. i have no money and i lived with my papu. but we loved each other. when we said are vows it was from the bottom of are hearts. me and him both don't care if we live on the streets in a card bored box as long as we have each other. so not all people are like that. if you find true love then you are not shallow like the rest of them.

No. Marriage is about love, companionship and wanting to be with someone rather than being alone. No normal parent asks how much money someone has unless they are rich and that's all they care about. Most parents want their children to find someone to love and who will love them in return.
