I'm assuming you want to use a CD as a floppy.

I have a Samsung and a Dell burner. Both instruct that in order to use a CD as a floppy:

1. You must use a CD/RW disk.
2. The disk has to be formatted with the software that came with the burner.

If your burner came with a User's Guide, look it up, or,
open the program and click the Help button.

I was using CD/RWs this way until flashdrives became available. They do not have to be formatted, are easily transportable, and have come way down in price.

Have you ever tried burning something to your CD before? Are you sure that you have a CD burner? Is this something that just broke recently? It sounds like it's a small file, just email it to a friend and have them burn it to a CD.

Otherwise, if you put in a brand-spanking new CD-R into your drive and Windows doesn't ask you if you want to add files to the CD then it's either not a CD burner or it's broken.

You should just be able to put in a blank CD and then drag and drop to your CD drive in Windows XP.

you have to have a cd or dvd burner to burn files to a disk....

it should say on the front plate of your burner on the tower.....

on 98 or 2000, you should just be able to drop and burn the files,,,, but in windows xp you have to drop the files into the folder, then on the left side of the screen it will ask you if you would like to burn the files to the disk. you HAVE to click on that link in xp, or it wont' burn.

good luck!!!
