When I was 16, (now I'm 24), I was caught having sex with my boyfriend. Yes thats too young, I know. Well my father pulled down my pants and used his belt to spank my bare butt repeatedly, leaving welts. It hurt to sit down for at least a week that I remember. This is in the state of TN. At that time, my parents said not to tell, that I would be put in foster care and that would be worse. I have never forgotten this and I was wondering what would have probably actually happened if I had reported it?

You may well have been taken out of the home for that. It really depends on the rules in the state where you resided at the time.
That is an unfortunate event to have happened in your life at the time. I am sorry to hear about it.

Regarding the boyfriend, a lot would depend on his age. Regarding your father, just 8 years ago, it's possible some judges would have removed you from the home and put you in foster care. I'm not sure. It would take a pretty dumb judge to do that, but I heard about a small boy who was arrested in one state because he helped his baby sister pee in the back yard! So everything is possible.
I doubt your father did you any lasting harm. Hopefully he convinced you not to repeat the stupidity of having sex with a guy at that age.
- If I had been the father, I might have gone for the guy though. Hard to say how violent I could have been. I'm only glad I was never put in that position.

As a parent I would have to say it was not the right choice that is I have cgone threw a course because I did some thing of that sort with my step daughter and this day in age it is consider wrong but years ago it was not. I had to learn the hard way I guess.
but the I will I did learn a lot for my course but then my step daughter turns around and asks why I dont spank the youngest.
to me it's a real catch 22

If it happened before about 1975 probably nothing. There was not an awareness of child abuse then that there is now. I too remember spankings and how it scarred me emotionally. I remember screaming and my heart breaking as my parents hit me. I can't believe parents would it their own kids!

I think your parents were worried because child abuse has become a witch hunt and many parents fear being accused of an offense they aren't guilty of.

probable nothing back then and get over it you are too old to be thinking about that. i got belted once or twice too and for good reasons too just like you. having sex at 16. so get over it that is just what happened back then. i am sure you turned out sweetie.

Your father would have more than likely been put in jail and your boyfriend more than likely would be doing 10 to 20 for rape.

wondering what would have happened wont help you get over it
