COULD THIS BE THE REASON WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET PREGNANT? I HAVE TRIED TO KEEP MY HIPS ELAVATED. WHAT ELSE COULD I TRY. IS THIS NORMAL?

Staying in bed with a pillow under your butt for 20-30 minutes after sex should be enough to get the sperm in there. It is normal for there to always have some leak out. But don't worry, there are hundreds of million of sperm so there will be a few that do get to the cervix. If you've been trying for over a year then it's time to go to the doctor. There are plenty of things that could cause infertility. The problem you're describing is completely normal and shouldn't be affecting you not getting pregnant. Good Luck!

I was having trouble in conceiving my son 3 years ago now. We had tried for 6 months with no luck and I was having the same problem. I don't really know if it helped completely or if it is just in my head, but after taking a vacation for Christmas to see my soon to be in-laws we got back were relaxed and I had my period the next day. I was dissapointed but I decided to try something different. My almost husband and I went out and bought a dildo, just run of the mill kind. I used it as a plug to keep the ejaculate in longer and also had my hips raised some after sex. That time I got pregnant. Now we have been trying to conceive for 8 months for a second pregnancy and it doesn't seem to be working this time as I have been using it all along since it seemed to have worked last time. I can't afford to take a vacation though I would love to. I am not ready to fly with an active 26 month old quite yet.

I also read something recently, and I can't remember where I was reading this, but it said to keep stay in bed for an hour or more after sex, don't get up for anything.

Hope you have some luck soon.

All of his swimmers will never stay with you. Keeping your hip elevated is a good idea. My husband and i would put a pillow under my hips to keep my rear in the air.

Don't hop up and run to the bathroom right after you make love. Lying down for at least a few minutes (some fertility experts say five minutes) after intercourse increases the odds that the sperm will be able to keep their date with the awaiting egg and that you'll win at baby roulette.
Make love often during your fertile period (the five days leading up to ovulation). If you've got the stamina to make love at least every 48 hours, you will ensure that there's a fresh shipment of sperm waiting in the fallopian tube at any given time. Of course, you can get too much of a good thing if your partner has a low sperm count, so if you're aware of a pre-existing fertility problem, you'll want to talk this issue over with your fertility specialist.
Keep in mind that baby-making is a numbers game. Even if you do everything "right," you still have only a 25% to 30% chance of conceiving in any given cycle. (See The Mother of All Pregnancy Books

I'm not sure if I read this right, but it sounds like a lot of the sperm could be lost OUTSIDE your vagina, where it will do no good! Yes, you can get pregnant when it's nearby, but that's not a substitute for INSIDE, if you're trying to conceive. You need to tell your husband to stay inside, even after orgasm! If he just can't do it, (for some reason), just grab his a** and hold him tight! lol I'm sure he won't mind!

Its not all going to stay inside. there will be leakage. Just keep elevated for about 10 minutes after and don't worry about what doesn'yt stay in. If it still worrys you there are these things like a diva cup you insert after sex to keep the semen up by the cervix. Good luck !

When I was having problems I was recommended to use a pillow under my hips....and to stay there for 30 minutes after everything was done. Good luck.

Tuck a pillow under your butt and literally make your butt stay up in the air and hold it in there for a while.

It is normal-- only one sperm is enough to fertilize--test his semman in the laboratory whether it contains --live --with action--try to engage on the 9th 11th day after your period

I was also instructed by my doctor to immediately prop my legs up on a stack of pillows.
