I do alot of downloading, is there a way to make it go faster?

You can turn off your windows firewall settings (although not safe from attack so make sure you have lots of virus protection) and if you have wireless you can open ports to the dling program on your router to let them through without being held back by the firewall... or if your router has a firewall you can put urself completely out of the network with posting ur ip in the DMZ if you need helping doing this you can email me.

Download a program Like Bittorrent for the big free stuff. If it's freeware then you can probably find it on there, along with a lot of videos and such, but the big thing is that it's peer assisted, so it works with many different computers, not just one. If you're downloading something that's on there, it dramatically cuts down download time.

Other then that? use a cable to connect (wireless is often slower) and use a cover antivirus program like Sophos, not Norton or McAllafee. Those root in your kernels and slow your computer down, which results in a longer download time.

Move to Asia. In the U.S. the rate is about 5.6KB per second. In Asia it is about 11KB.
